Plumber in Northport

Northport at a glance

Northport is a city in Tuscaloosa County with 31,125 people at the 2020 census, the 17th most populous city in Alabama. It lies on the Black Warrior River across from downtown Tuscaloosa and was incorporated in 1871.

What that means for your plumbing

A city incorporated more than 150 years ago has homes from many eras, from older houses near the river to newer subdivisions. Older homes may have cast iron drains and galvanized supply lines that wear from the inside. Slow drains and rusty water are early signs; see drain cleaning.

Along the river

For most of their history the boundary between Northport and Tuscaloosa has been the Black Warrior River itself. Homes on lower ground near a river can have damp crawl spaces and wet soil around buried lines. If your crawl space stays wet, have a plumber rule out a supply leak first.

Twin cities

Because Northport sits right next to the larger city of Tuscaloosa, many of its residents work across the river or elsewhere in Tuscaloosa County. The two cities share a land boundary today, though historically the whole line between them was the river. Plumbers who work in Tuscaloosa usually cover Northport too, which makes it easy to get help. Growth on the Northport side has brought many newer homes with plastic supply lines and modern fixtures. Those resist rust but can leak at fittings and connectors, especially behind washers and under sinks. Check them once in a while, and replace any braided connector that looks kinked or corroded.
